No, he wasn't really playing that drum.

Kiyoshi Nishiji was born in the secluded seacoast in Japan. He started to play drums at age 15 and began working as a session drummer at age 17. He played numerous concerts and TV jingles while he was studying at YAMAHA Music School in Tokyo. In 1980, he played for "The Platters" Japan Tour.

The same year, he joined "Happy Takayama Bigband" that was consisted of all studio musicians and played mostly Funk-Fusion style. Kiyoshi toured extensively with Japanese pop singers throughout Japan in '80s. During that period, he worked together with alto saxophonist, Masato Honda (former T-Square member....but that was even before he joined T-Square).

In 1985, he played an avant-garde musical "The Prostitutes from Barcelona" with the theater, THE LIFE COMPANY.
