Christy Bluhm/Jazz Singer

Raised as a performer by her own musical family, Christy Bluhm began singing and playing guitar for her church in grade school, discovering the beauty and power of music through working with other musicians.  Besides being chosen for several elite choruses, theatre productions, and small vocal groups, Christy started her first jazz band at age fifteen and was hired to play for the vice president of the United States, Al Gore, in 1995.  She soon began to travel the US as a performer, and was accepted with open arms by her audiences.  Her music was listed on CMJ's "Top 30 Play List" of college radio stations in 1996, and she contributed original music to the compilations "Blues in the Green Mountains: Volumes 3 and 4" in 1997 and 1998.

Moving back to Massachusetts and the beautiful city of Boston reunited Christy with her roots as a jazz singer.  She played through the Boston club scene along the way and eventually received a performance scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where she is an active participant in many of their recitals, feature shows, and celebrity performances, most recently showcased as the student performer in this fall's "Tribute to Gershwin Concert" which featured a 36-piece All-Star faculty orchestra.  Over the few years that she's been back in Boston, Christy has had the privilege to work with, among others, Kim Nazarian, Phil Wilson, Gary Burton, Brenda Russell, Greg Philinganges and Kenwood Dennard, and has been chosen to be a featured performer for Patty Larkin, Bob Moog, David Foster and Shirley Horn.  She is also currently touring with 2003 Grammy Nominee Patti Austin's "Beboperella" show across the United States.  In addition to her own jazz act, Ms. Bluhm is a member of Syncopation (www.jazzsyncopation.com), a four-part jazz vocal group originally mentored by Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer; the group has experienced success across the US and is currently recording their first album and planning a second tour of Japan.  Watch out for Christy on the jazz scene in the future, as she continues to advance in her exploration of music and the world.
