One of the most common things heard by Chrissi Poland after she performs for an audience is, "God, how old are you?" With a youthful energy that melts into mature musical talent well beyond her years, the 21-year-old Boston-based singer songwriter has deserving reasons to be proud. Herperformance days began at the tender age of two, kicking up her heals in dance recitals and singing for anyone who would listen. As she grew older, Chrissi became more involved with theater and the dramatic arts, landingleading roles in such productions as "Crazy for You", "Into The Woods", "Godspell", and even the Brittish farse "Noises Off". It was not until seh was 18 years old that Chrissi first began to write her own music. She began her freshman year of college at the Boston Conservatory , where shecontinued to fine tune her skills in theater and dramatics. But it was not enough. In the fall of 1998, Chrissi entered the prestigious Berklee College of Music, ready to become her own artist. She became involved in many productionsat Berklee that involved pop, jazz, R&B, big band, anxious to learn about everything that was at her disposal. In the spring of 2000 Chrissi went into the studio with a crew of talented musicians to record her debut album "Mellow & Sublime". Rik Tinory, who engineered the project and has also engineered projects involving Aerosmith, James Tayler, and Susan Tedeschi, was impressed by Chrissi's writing, arranging, and producing skills, continuing to announce, "This kid's got it!". In May of 200, Chrissi wasasked to join the Everett Longstreth Big Band Orchestra on a 12-day tour of the Hawaiian Islands, again proving her ability to transcend styles. She will be returning to Hawaii in October of 2000. Chrissi is currentlypromoting her album, along with her band, playing shows in Boston and in the surrounding areas. She also loves to perform jazz on the side, singing with such legendsin Boston as the AI Vega Trio. Chrissi plans on returning to Berklee in the fall to further her education of the profession she so passionately loves.
