Kokichi Tagawa is a dynamic Jazz pianist and composer with over 20 years of experience. His over 500 songs of repertoire encompasses standard, Broadway, contemporary Jazz and Latin. A native of Japan, Kokichi has always been passionate on Jazz, playing in night clubs after work as a computer music system engineer. He came to the U.S. in 1991, graduating with honor from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1995. Kokichi has performed at various venues, including "Jazz Masters" in Providence, RI, where he was a house pianist, performing and hosting jam sessions. The talent of the Kokichi Tagawa Trio was featured in the article on May 1999 issue of the Providence Journal. Exceptionally talented Kokichi also plays vibraphone, drums and teaches all instruments. A father of four, all of his children are musicians. His oldest son is a violinist with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra in Louisiana. This kind and easy going gentleman is available for booking as a soloist or with a band for variety of occasions, such as weddings, cocktail hours, banquet hall events, or Sunday branches. |
